Tips on caring for silver
When silver is exposed to air and light, it tarnishes. So, when not being worn, wrap in soft cloth and place your silver in a jewellery box. Wrapping each piece will slow down tarnishing and also stop pieces bumping and scratching each other.
If it needs cleaning, use mild soap and water. Dry with a soft, fine cloth. You can buy cloths specially made for polishing silver – even the fibres in tissue paper or paper towels can scratch the smooth surface.
For deep cleaning and removal of tarnish, use a specially formulated silver cleaner.
Take your silver jewellery off before swimming! Chlorine and salt are not friendly to it.
